Who is Noah?
Second Father
Today's story is the story of Allah's Prophet Noah, the second father of mankind, and the first messenger sent by Allah to people; to invite them to worship Allah alone and without his partner, tells about the stubbornness of his people and their insistence on polytheism, and how Allah Almighty tortured them, and our master Noah and those with him survived, our story carries with it many lessons, it is also filled with strong feelings and emotions through which the mother can cultivate values and behaviors, and instill useful concepts.
The descendants of our master Adam lived in the Earth, and they began to multiply and spread, worshiping the Almighty alone and without a partner, as their father Adam taught them, Eblis tried with them from generation to generation to distract them from worshiping God, but they were strong in their religion and did not listen to him or obey him, however he did not get bored and did not give up, and insisted on getting them out of the worship of God, so he thought of a strange trick, although it takes a long time; he was very patient.
During this period, there were five righteous men whose names were: "Wadda-Sua`a-Yaguth-Yauq-Nasra". They worshiped the Almighty Allah and obeyed Him. As a result, people loved them for their obedience to Allah and imitated them. So, when these Righteous Men died, Eblis took the opportunity to start his plan.
Eblis came to the followers of these righteous people who were imitating them, and he asked them to make statues similar to these righteous people, and named them by their names, so whenever you see these statues, you remember these righteous people, and you long to worship Allah as they used to worship him."[1] whoever is very malicious, Eblis did not tell them directly, he knows that if he told them to associate the idols with Allah, they would not obey him, so his evil plan was to start with a small step First, which is to make them make idols, and then he makes them associate with Allah step by step, gradually and without feeling; therefore, we have to beware of the steps of Eblis; he will not say to you: do not pray, but he will start with a small step; as if to tell you: It's ok to delay the prayer a little, then he whispers to you: it's OK to sleep and pray after you wake up, and then he comes to you and says: you are tired, why don't you put the two prayers together... Therefore, if you find Eblis is deceiving you with these simple steps, we must seek Allah's help from him, contradict him, and hasten to obey, so as not to fall into his trap.
Indeed, these people fell into the trap, and they ignored Eblis's steps, and they made statues and did not worship them at first, but when these people also died, Eblis came to their children and made them tell them that their fathers used to worship these idols, and they were asking for rain from them, so they worshiped them!
Thus, Eblis succeeded in his plan, and by his malice he was able to make people turn away from worshiping Allah to worshiping those idols that do no harm and do no good. The main reason why they did this is ignorance, their ignorance is the reason for their falling into polytheism if they knew that only Allah alone is worthy of worship, and that all these human beings and all these creatures are servants of Allah, may he be exalted, are of no use or harm, so we do not elevate them above their status, or sanctify them, Eblis would not be able to mislead them and trap them, science has built a weapon in the face of Eblis. He cannot deceive or mislead you.
And so the first polytheism began on Earth, and generation after generation, people forgot to worship Allah alone. Polytheism spread, and people worked on those idols, dispensing obedience to the idols, worshiping and submitting to them, asking them for sustenance, hoping for benefit from them, and asking them to reveal harm. They forgot that Allah Almighty is the creator who deserves worship alone, the breadwinner who sustains them, and he is the only one who benefits and harms. This situation continued for years and years, until Allah Almighty told Noah (peace be upon him) to guide them to the way, to stop them from worshiping idols, and to guide them to the worship of Allah Almighty.
Noah was a righteous man, and he was by instinct, a believer who did not worship idols as his people did, and so all the prophets sent by Allah Almighty, Allah Almighty chose him to be his messenger on Earth, inviting people to worship Allah alone and only him, Noah heard his Lord and obeyed him, and went out on his people, and began the journey of his call to them as commanded by Allah Almighty.
He came to his people and said: O people, worship Allah Almighty alone, you have no other God.
Our master Noah was a diligent, compassionate and advocate who loved the goodness of his people, calling them day and night, secretly and openly, diversifying in his call, sometime addressing their minds and calling out to them: O people, it is not worth worshiping except Allah Almighty; he is the one who created you and provided for you, how can you worship gods that do not benefit and harm, do not hear and see you! Have you not seen this wide sky, this bright moon and the bright sun, and those towering mountains! Who created them? Isn't Allah Almighty!
But who is it that brings down rain from heaven and sprouts the Earth, and resurrects you after your death? He is God alone, so do not worship anyone else.
And again he warns them of the punishment of Allah and fears them if you do not leave the worship of these idols, Allah will torment you severely, with all these attempts, the reactions of Noah's people differed, so his call touched the hearts of the weak and the poor, who felt the mercy of Allah Almighty and his greatness, so they believed Noah, and returned to worship Allah alone, but the rich and powerful mocked Noah and were Titans on the Earth, accepting only the worship of their idols, and told him sarcastically: You are human like us and only Rascals and vices believed in you, so how do you want us to follow you! Do you want us to be equal with these poor people?
Then these arrogant rich people said to Noah: If you want us to follow you, expel these poor people; it is impossible to include a single invitation, and Noah replied to them with all kindness and reminder: I cannot expel them or abandon them, how can I expel them and they believed in me, and helped me in my invitation! But who will prevent the punishment of Allah from me if I expel them.
Thus, these arrogant people refused to believe in the call of the Prophet Noah, and chose the path of seduction and following Eblis, and when they saw that our master Noah did not stop calling him, they began to offend him, showing enmity to him, and even threatened him with stoning. however, our master Noah was steadfast and strong in his faith, he was not intimidated by their threat, and continued to call people years and years and years... He has been praying to his people for nine hundred and fifty years tirelessly, because he loves Allah Almighty and loves his people and wants good for them, he does not want them to die on disbelief and enter the fire, he is merciful to them.
Our master Noah continued to call him for years and years, old people dying and young people being born and growing up, taking the same path as their fathers and grandfathers; from error and disbelief, as well as our master Noah grew old and became an old man, but he did not weaken, but remained steadfast, firm in the mountains, strong in faith, trying his best to make people believe in him, so they beat him until he falls, they throw him at the bottom of a house, they think that he is dead, so he comes out on the second day and calls them to Allah Almighty.
A strange insistence and a strong desire to guide them, but they went too far in their jealousy and tyranny, and the scourge intensified from them, and he waited generation after generation, only a generation came who was more malicious than the one before him, even if the other of them would say: this was with our fathers and grandfathers and he is so crazy, they do not accept anything from turn to their faith, And here the greatest event began, Almighty Allah revealed to our master Noah that he will not believe from your people except those who have believed, the matter is over, Noah, do not bother yourself in calling them and do not hope for their faith, do not grieve; Allah will destroy them and save you and those who believe with you.
When our master Noah knew and was sure that none of them would believe, he called on Allah Almighty and asked him not to leave any of the unbelievers on this earth; O Lord, if you keep any of them, your servants, whom you create after them, will go astray, and they will only give birth to an unbeliever in deeds, an unbeliever in heart; because of his experience with them and he stayed among them for a thousand years, except Fifty Years[4].
And Allah answered him, and promised that he would save him and his family except his woman, because she was an unbeliever, and Allah revealed to him a strange thing?!
Rescue ship
When Allah Almighty wanted to cleanse the earth of injustice and disbelief, Allah Almighty inspired our master Noah to build a great ship; in order to save the good believers, who believed in Allah Almighty and responded to the call of the Prophet Noah (peace be upon him), and indeed our master Noah began building the ship, stopped calling his people, made him chop wood, strike iron, he prepares a ship's kit of materials and other things that only he can fix, and the believers who are with him began to help him, because it was not easy, this is a very large ship, a ship to save humanity and various types of animals, so it was tiring and hard, and it takes a lot of patience; to complete the ship, and become ready.
During the construction of the ship his people saw him building the ship - and they had not seen a ship built before - they said, ' O Noah, what are you doing?' He said: build a house walking on the water! And they were amazed at what he said and mocked him[5], and they laughed and said mockingly: O Noah, you have become a carpenter after the prophecy! And he answered them calmly: if you are mocking us now and our ship, we will mock you tomorrow when you sink, and if you are mocking us today, we will mock you in the hereafter; just as you mock us in this world!
But nevertheless our master Noah and the believers were strong in their faith, confident in Allah's victory and protection, knowing that Allah would not waste them, they did not heed their word and were not affected by it.
After many years of work, effort and patience, the great ship was completed, it was completely ready for its great mission, and God Almighty inspired his Prophet Noah: if the Enlightenment fled and you saw water on Earth, get on board you and those with you in the ship, and God Almighty commanded our master Noah to carry in the ship the believers who believed in him, and to take from every kind of plants and fruits, birds, beasts and animals a male and female couple; so that he preserves these races and not become extinct. Our master Noah had built the ship, and he made three layers in it; the lower layer for the beasts and beasts, the middle layer for the man, and the upper layer for the bird, and finally the decisive moment had come.
The Flood
The terrible day came, and the Enlightenment fled, and water began to appear on the face of the Earth, Noah learned that the promise of his Lord had come, so Noah hurried to open his ship and brought in animals and birds as God commanded, and began to invite his believers to enter into it, all the people of our master Noah boarded except his unbelieving wife, she did not board the ship, and Noah searched for his son, he did not find him!
The sky began to rain heavily, and water poured down from it in quantities that had not happened before, and water came out of everywhere in the Earth, The Rains Of Heaven met the water of the Earth, and the water began to rise, rise, rise, the wind intensified, the waves rose, and suddenly our master Noah saw his son, he was afraid of drowning, so he called out to him and said: "son, get on the ship with us, believe in God and do not be with the unbelievers and drown"! But the unbelieving son refused and insisted on his disbelief, and shouted: No, I will take refuge in that towering mountain; to protect me from drowning! our master Noah looked at him with sorrow and compassion and said: there is no infallible punishment from Allah today, my son, except from Allah's mercy with his kindness and charity, No Mountains, no hiding places, no protector, except from Allah's mercy, and a huge powerful wave came that separated the father and his son, our master Noah no longer sees him, and this high wave swallowed the son inside and he was doomed to drown with the drowners!
Our master Noah grieved for his son, took pity on him, raised his hand to heaven, prayed to the Almighty and said: O Lord, you promised me that all my family would be saved except my wife, and my son is one of my family! The answer from the Almighty was that he was not one of your people whose salvation you promised, because he was an unbeliever.
Noah realized that his son was not a believer, and he did not believe his message, so he surrendered to the command of Allah and was pleased with him, and asked his Lord for forgiveness for asking for the salvation of his unbelieving son.
The End
The sky is still raining heavily, and the Earth is bursting with a lot of water; the waves are high, the wind is raging, and the ship is making its way amid those waves that resemble mountains, and days and days pass, and the flood continues for a period that only Allah Almighty knows, and every living person on Earth has perished, and only the survivors in the ship remain alive.
When Allah wanted the ship to settle on land, he ordered the earth to swallow the water, and the sky to stop raining, so they complied with Allah's command, the earth swallowed its water, the sky stopped, the water drained from the Earth, the winds began to subside, the clouds cleared, and the sun rose, and with time plateaus, hills and valleys appeared, and the ship docked on he carried it with Joody Mountain , then God Almighty inspired our master Noah to descend from the ship with peace and blessings from God Almighty, you and those with you who are believers, and other couples that he carried with him.
The believers got off the ship, the animals and birds began to resume their lives anew, architecture began in the land, people began to breed and reproduce, worshiping Allah Almighty alone, without his partner, without injustice, without evils, without polytheism, after our master Noah fulfilled his message sent by Allah, the unbelievers perished, the believers survived, and all lived in peace.
Allah has summarized the story of Allah's Prophet Noah in the Holy Quran in the following verses
"And We had certainly sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Indeed, I am to you a clear warner" (11:25), "That you not worship except Allah. Indeed, I fear for you the punishment of a painful day." (11:26), "So the eminent among those who disbelieved from his people said, "We do not see you but as a man like ourselves, and we do not see you followed except by those who are the lowest of us [and] at first suggestion. And we do not see in you over us any merit; rather, we think you are liars." (11:27), "He said, "O my people, have you considered: if I should be upon clear evidence from my Lord while He has given me mercy from Himself but it has been made unapparent to you, should we force it upon you while you are averse to it?" (11:28), "And O my people, I ask not of you for it any wealth. My reward is not but from Allah. And I am not one to drive away those who have believed. Indeed, they will meet their Lord, but I see that you are a people behaving ignorantly." (11:29), "And O my people, who would protect me from Allah if I drove them away? Then will you not be reminded? (11:30), "And I do not tell you that I have the depositories [containing the provision] of Allah or that I know the unseen, nor do I tell you that I am an angel, nor do I say of those upon whom your eyes look down that Allah will never grant them any good. Allah is most knowing of what is within their souls. Indeed, I would then be among the wrongdoers." (11:31), "They said, "O Noah, you have disputed us and been frequent in dispute of us. So bring us what you threaten us, if you should be of the truthful." (11:32), He said, "Allah will only bring it to you if He wills, and you will not cause [Him] failure. (11:33), "And my advice will not benefit you ‒ although I wished to advise you ‒ if Allah should intend to put you in error. He is your Lord, and to Him you will be returned." (11:34), "Or do they say [about Prophet Muhammad], "He invented it"? Say, "If I have invented it, then upon me is [the consequence of] my crime; but I am innocent of what [crimes] you commit." (11:35), And it was revealed to Noah that, "No one will believe from your people except those who have already believed, so do not be distressed by what they have been doing. (11:36), And construct the ship under Our observation and Our inspiration and do not address Me concerning those who have wronged; indeed, they are [to be] drowned." (11:37), And he constructed the ship, and whenever an assembly of the eminent of his people passed by him, they ridiculed him. He said, "If you ridicule us, then we will ridicule you just as you ridicule. (11:38), And you are going to know who will get a punishment that will disgrace him [on earth] and upon whom will descend an enduring punishment [in the Hereafter]." (11:39), [So it was], until when Our command came and the oven (waters) overflowed, We said, "Load upon the ship of each [creature] two mates and your family, except those about whom the word has preceded, and [include] whoever has believed." But none had believed with him, except a few. (11:40), And [Noah] said, "Embark therein; in the name of Allah is its course and its anchorage. Indeed, my Lord is Forgiving and Merciful." (11:41), And it sailed with them through waves like mountains, and Noah called to his son who was apart [from them], "O my son, come aboard with us and be not with the disbelievers." (11:42), And it was said, "O earth, swallow your water, and O sky, withhold [your rain]." And the water subsided, and the matter was accomplished, and the ship came to rest on the [mountain of] Jud
iyy. And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people." (11:43), And it was said, "O Noah, disembark in peace from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations [descending] from those with you. But other nations We will grant enjoyment; then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment." (11:44), But Noah called to his Lord and said, "My Lord, indeed my son is of my family; and indeed, Your promise is true; and You are the most just of judges!" (11:45), He said, "O Noah, indeed he is not of your family; indeed, he is [one whose] work was other than righteous. So do not ask Me about that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant." (11:46), [Noah] said, "My Lord, then do not leave upon the earth from the disbelievers an inhabitant. Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except wrongdoing and ingratitude." (11:47), [Allah] said, "My Lord, with which I have every deficiency, but over them You are perfect; so relate [i.e., O Prophet] whatever you have been commanded and rely upon the Most Merciful, and rely upon Him who sees [you]." (11:48), That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous. (11:49).
iyy. And it was said, "Away with the wrongdoing people." (11:43), And it was said, "O Noah, disembark in peace from Us and blessings upon you and upon nations [descending] from those with you. But other nations We will grant enjoyment; then there will touch them from Us a painful punishment." (11:44), But Noah called to his Lord and said, "My Lord, indeed my son is of my family; and indeed, Your promise is true; and You are the most just of judges!" (11:45), He said, "O Noah, indeed he is not of your family; indeed, he is [one whose] work was other than righteous. So do not ask Me about that of which you have no knowledge. Indeed, I advise you, lest you be among the ignorant." (11:46), [Noah] said, "My Lord, then do not leave upon the earth from the disbelievers an inhabitant. Indeed, if You leave them, they will mislead Your servants and not beget except wrongdoing and ingratitude." (11:47), [Allah] said, "My Lord, with which I have every deficiency, but over them You are perfect; so relate [i.e., O Prophet] whatever you have been commanded and rely upon the Most Merciful, and rely upon Him who sees [you]." (11:48), That is from the news of the unseen which We reveal to you, [O Muhammad]. You knew it not, neither you nor your people, before this. So be patient; indeed, the [best] outcome is for the righteous. (11:49).
