Prophet Shuaib

The 9th Prophet

The lineage of the Prophet Shuaib

He is Shuaib ibn Madin ibn Sam ibn Noah ibn Idris al-Masri ibn Seth ibn Adam (peace be upon him), and he is the cousin of the Prophet of Allah Lot (peace be upon him).

The Message of The Prophet Shuaib

The Prophet Shuaib (peace be upon him) sent after the Prophet Lot to the people of Madin, the Arabs who inhabited the city of Madin, the village located on the outskirts of the Sham, near the lake of the people of Lot, which is said to have been in Jordan.

The people of Madin were unbelievers, they cut off the way and frightened passers-by, and they were one of the worst treated people, they cheapened the scale and the balance, taking the excess and pushing the minus, so Allah sent them a messenger from them, and he was the Prophet Shuaib (peace be upon him), and they worshiped the Ikah, a tree of Ikah around which a tip was wrapped ،
They used to tell Shoaib that his prayers entreated him and commanded him to obey without hesitation and without thinking, because of his prayers, he turned into a moving machine and an unconscious tool. "Your prayers command you to leave what our Parents Worship, and the people of Madin began to ridicule and ridicule our master Shoaib, peace be upon him, and they used to wonder with ironic surprise, imagine, Shoaib, that your prayers interfere with our will and the way we dispose of our money, or to do with our money what we want, what is the relationship of faith and prayer with material transactions, and with this question, which the people of Shoaib thought was the height of intelligence, they raised before him the issue of faith and its relationship to work, and denied that it has anything to do with the behaviour of people, their treatment, and their economy they denied that religion interferes in their daily lives, this is the understanding of the people of Shuaib of Islam that was brought by Shuaib (peace be upon him).
If you had asked the people of Shoaib about their perception of religion, they would have told you that it is a set of good spiritual values that do not enter into everyday life. Shoaib (peace be upon him) realized that his people mock him for excluding them from the interference of religion in everyday life, and therefore the owner of the call, who is confident in the truth with him and transcends their ridicule, does not care about it and does not stop to discuss it, I understand that he is aware of his Lord, and what he wants is reform " if I only want to reform what I could after our master Shoaib explained to them his goals and revealed the truth of his call "O people, do not make it a crime for my dissension to afflict you as it afflicted the people of Noah, the people of HUD, the people of Saleh, and the people of Lot from a long time ago," Shoaib began Then the Prophet opened the door for them to ask forgiveness and repentance, Allah is merciful and accepts repentance from his servants " and ask your Lord for forgiveness and then repent to him, my Lord is merciful and friendly.

But the people of Shuaib showed him that he was weak by their weak measure, because only the poor and the needy followed him, but the people were arrogant and insisted on their tyranny.
It is a wrong human measure, power is in the hands of God, and God is with his prophets.

The unbelievers continue to threaten them, saying: if it were not for your family, your people and those who follow you, we would have dug a hole for you and killed you with stones.
We see that when Shuaib (peace be upon him) raised the argument against his people, they changed their style, so they switched from ridicule to threats and showed the truth of their dislike for him.
But Shoaib was kind to them and bypassed their abuse of him and asked them a question whose purpose was to awaken their minds: Is my family more important for you than Allah?! How naive you are.

They misjudge the reality of the forces that control existence, that God is the only one who is dear, and they should realize this, and it is assumed that man should not weigh in existence other than God and not fear in existence other than God.
He does not reckon with the existence of a power other than God, and God is omnipotent above his servants.

It seems that Shoaib's people got fed up with Shoaib, so the heads of his people met and entered a new stage of threat.
First They threatened him with death, and then they threatened him with expulsion from their village, they gave him a choice between displacement, returning to their religion , which worships trees and stones, and Shuaib understood that the question of his return in thier religion is a matter that cannot even be thought of, so how should they ask him to implement it.
Allah has saved him from their faith, so how can he return to it.
He is the one who calls them to monotheism, so how do they call him to polytheism and disbelief Then where is the Equal Opportunity he calls them gently, softly, lovingly, and they threaten him with force.
The struggle between the people of Shoaib and their prophet continued, and the leaders, elders, and rulers called out against him, and it seemed clear that there was no hope in them.
They have forsaken Allah, lied to his prophet, accused him of being bewitched and a liar, so let each one work and let all of them wait for Allah's command.

The Torment of Allah

The conflict turned into a new kind of challenge, and they demanded that a Eclipse fall from the sky on them if it was honest. They began to ask him about the torment of Allah, ' where is it?' And how is it? And why is it late? They mocked him. And Shuaib waited for the command of Allah, and Allah inspired him to go out and go out with the believers from the village, and Shuaib went out. Perhaps they rejoiced at what they imagined that meant that they were in front of a great torment for a great day. It's over. A mighty shout was heard by them which made each of them crouch on his face in the place where he was in his house. The cry shocked every living creature who could not move, run, hide or save himself. Praise the Almighty Allah above his servants.

These verses in the Qur'an summarize the story of the prophet of Allah Shuaib with his people

“And to the people of Shu'aib We sent their brother Shu’aib. He said, ‘O my people! Worship Allah; you have no god other than Him. And give full measure and weight with justice. I see you in prosperity — but I fear for you the punishment of a Day impending.’ (11:84). “O my people! Give full measure and weight with justice; deprive not people of their due, and act not corruptly on the earth, spreading mischief.” (11:85). “What remains of Allah is best for you if you are believers — and I am not a guardian over you. (11:86). “They said, ‘O Shu’aib! Your prayer has caused you to stop us from what our fathers worshipped, or from doing with our wealth what we will. Surely you are the forbearing, the right-minded.’ (11:87). He said, “O my people! Have you considered: if I stand upon clear evidence from my Lord, and He has given me good provision from Him? I do not intend to differ from you in that which I forbid you; I only intend to reform as much as I am able. And my success is not but through Allah; upon Him I rely and to Him I return.” (11:88). “O my people! Do not let your own misdeeds lead you to a doom similar to the doom of Noah’s people, or of the people of Hud — and you are not lesser in strength than they were. And ask forgiveness of your Lord; then repent to Him; surely my Lord is Most Merciful, All-loving.” (11:89). They said, “O Shu’aib! We do not understand much of what you say; and indeed we see you weak among us, and if not for your clansmen, we would have stoned you. You are not powerful over us.” (11:90). He said, “O my people! Is my clan more honored by you than Allah? You have taken them as a support instead of Him. Indeed Allah is All-encompassing of what you do.” (11:91). “And O my people! Work according to your position; I too am working. Soon you will know on whom will come a punishment bringing disgrace — and who is liar? Keep watch, for I am with you a watcher.” (11:92). “And when Our command came, We saved Shu’aib and those who believed with him by mercy from Us — and the cry seized the wrongdoers; so they lay still in their homes.” (11:93). “As though they never prospered there; so away with (the people of) Midian — just as the people of Thamud were made to vanish.” (11:94).
